Deccan Odyssey Tour Itinerary
Travelling on The Deccan Odyssey is not just a royal train journey; it’s a classic experience to explore the varied cultural heritage of Maharashtra and Goa. Explore the destinations Sindhudurg, Goa, Nashik, Aurangabad, Kolhapur, Wardha, Ajanta and Ellora while travelling on this luxurious train of India ! Each city is a rich deposit of culture and art. Enjoy a beach safari at Tarkali beach and the Goa beaches, along with a jungle safari in the Taboda-Andheri Wildlife Reserve awaits you!Day-01 - Wednesday - Mumbai
On your arrival at the Mumbai airport, you will be received and welcomed by our representative who will escort you to a hotel to freshen up. In case you who have arrived Mumbai in the morning, you can take the benefit of a sightseeing tour of Mumbai. Mumbai, the film city of India is an agglomeration of seven islands located along the shore of the Arabian Sea.In the evening, proceed to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Railway Station. From here starts your memorable Deccan Odyssey Tour. The very moment you will board the train you will be touched by the warm welcome and hospitality of the staff. Deccan Odyssey will depart for Sindhudurg. Enjoy Dine and Wine in luxury!
16:40 hrs: Departure from C.S.T (Mumbai)
Day-02 - Thursday - Sindhudurg the Ocean Fort - Tarkarli Beach - Dhamapur
In the morning Deccan Odyssey will arrive at the Sindhudurg Nagari Railway station. Breakfast to be served on board. Then the group of travelers will be taken to Malvan Jetty onboard an air-conditioned bus. Hop onto a boat to cruise towards Sindhudurg, the Ocean Fort, which is also the erstwhile naval base of the Maratha Empire.Sindhudurg Fort, sited on a rocky island, tells the story of the brave King Shivaji. This Ocean Fort, built by Shivaji in 1664-67 A.D., covers an area of 48 acres and is one of the well preserved forts of the Marathas. The architecture of this fort is totally worth the view and is considered as an engineering marvel of the Maratha artisans.
After exploring the fort, you’ll return to the boat jetty and then proceed to the Tarkarli Beach situated at the confluence of the Arabian Sea and Karli River. The rest of the time is spent at leisure on the beach.
After having lunch, proceed to Dhamapur village by bus. Enroute visit the Cashew factory. At Dhamapur visit the ancient temple of Goddess Bhagawati and Bharadi Devi located on the banks of a beautiful lake.
Proceed to Kudal Railway Station to board the train. Dinner on board.

Day-03 - Friday - Goa
Deccan Odyssey India Train will arrive at the Karmali railway station, North Goa, in the morning. After having scrumptious breakfast on board, proceed to Old Goa on board in an air-conditioned coach.Goa had been a Portuguese colony till 1961. Old Goa is home to the Portuguese heritage. Tour to Old Goa takes you to the ruins of St. Augustine Church which was once the largest Cathedral in Goa, The Basilica of Bom Jesus where the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier have been preserved for centuries, The Cathedral and the Church of St. Francis of Assissi which is an archaeological museum for Goan antiques.
Then leave for the Verne Railway Station to board the train. Have lunch at the restaurant of the train. In the evening proceed to a Goa beach hotel to enjoy an evening on the pure and pristine beaches of Goa. Explore the Goan beach culture and savor the traditional and yummy goan cuisine.Return to the train at Madgaon railway station.

Day-04 - Saturday - Kolhapur
In the morning the train will arrive at Kolhapur City, once a princely state. Post breakfast proceed to the New Palace, a royal palace which has been partly converted into a museum. The museum at New Palace houses the weapons, furniture, costumes and photographs of His Highness Shri Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj.Also tour the Bhavani Mandap and the Mahalaxmi Temple. The last stop here is a visit to the Shalini Palace. Here enjoy cultural programmes and martial arts. The shopping arcade of the heritage hotel, Shalini Palace, gives the opportunity to buy (or at least do window shopping) the famous Kolhapuri chappals, jewellery items, leather sandals, saris, etc.
Return to the train for lunch and spend the rest of your day leisurely on board. You can even experience the rejuvenating spa massage of Deccan Odyssey India Train on board! Dinner will be served on board.

Day-05 - Sunday - Daulatabad - Ellora Caves
Deccan Odyssey India Train arrives at the Daulatabad station in the morning. Post breakfast embark on a journey in an AC coach to the majestic fort of Daulatabad which is located 600 ft above the Deccan plain! Once the fort was known as Devgiri and also used to be the head quarters of the powerful Yadava rulers. Mohammed bin Tughlak, the Sultan of Delhi invaded this fort and made it his capital renaming it as Daulatabad, meaning
Next proceed to the Ellora Caves which draws millions of tourists from all over the world. The 34 caves of the Ellora are adorned with the sculptures of three religions-Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism. These caves date back to the 5th to 11th century. World’s largest monolithic structure, the magnificent Kailasa Temple (Cave 16), is located here only.
After lunch, explore the Bibi-ka-Maqbara known as "The Poor Man’s Taj". Bibi-ka-Maqbara is a replica of the legendary Taj Mahal built by Prince Azam Shah as a tribute to his mother Rabia Durrani. After this you can shop at the markets of Aurangabad. In the evening, board the train from Aurangabad railway station. Dinner will be served on board.

Day-06 - Monday - Chandrapur (Tadoba Wildlife Sanctuary) - Wardha (Sevagram)
Day 6 of the luxury Deccan Odyssey India train tour takes you to Chandrapur. After a luscious breakfast, proceed to the Tadoba Wildlife Sanctuary (Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve) on a jeep and enjoy a Jungle safari at the park.Main attractions at Tadoba Wildlife Sanctuary : The royal Bengal tiger and Sambar, Nilgai, Chinkara, Wild dog, Pangolin, Gaur, Spotted deer, Leopard cat, Sloth bear, Chausinga, Panther, Indian bison, Hyena, Jackals, Barking deer etc. Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve is also home to migratory and resident birds.
Back onboard the train. Lunch on board. In the afternoon, Deccan Odyssey will reach the Wardha Railway Station. Proceed by Bus to Sevagram. A Gandhian way of life is witnessed in the Sevagram village. Gandhiji is undoubtedly one of the most famous freedom-strugglers of India! During his later years, Gandhiji made this village his home and several important political decisions were taken here. Explore the Gandhi’s Ashram in Sevagram, a National Institution, the Adi Nivas (First Residence), Prayer Ground, Bapu Kuti, Ba Kuti, Gandhiji's Secretariat, Bapu's Kitchen, Akhari Niwas (Last Abode) and Gandhiji's Exhibits.
In the evening return to Deccan Odyssey. Dinner will be served on board.

Day-07 - Tuesday - Ajanta - Nashik
Arrival at the Bhusawal railway station. After breakfast board the luxury coach to reach the World Heritage Site, Ajanta Caves.The famous Buddhist caves of Ajanta date back to the 2nd century BC. The excavations of the caves prove that Buddhism flourished in the region before the Common Era. The paintings and sculptures of the rock cut architecture of Ajanta are considered as the masterpieces of Buddhist art and universal pictorial art.
At noon board the train at Jalgaon railway station and proceed to Nashik. Lunch will be served on board. On arrival at Nashik, disembark and board the bus to reach Panchawati Ghat well-known for the Kumbh Mela. Walk around the Ghat and visit the Kalaram Temple.
Panchawati is a sacred place for Hindus as some stories of the Hindu epic Ramayana are related to it. As legend has it, it is the site where Rama spent his vanavasa period with wife Sita and brother Laxman. Later Ravana abducts Sita from Panchawati. There are several temples located in the site. Kalaram temple is one of them which are dedicated to Rama.
In the evening board the train at Deolali railway station. Farewell dinner on-board.

Day-08 - Wednesday - Arrival at CST
On the concluding day itinerary of the Deccan Odyssey train tour you arrive at CST, Mumbai. The Deccan Odyssey Journey culminates here. Disembark and meet our representative.
