Elephant Festival Mumbai

Elephant Festival is planned every year in Month of February/March. This festival is held at Elephant Island, which is popular for a cavern shrine of Lord Shiva. These caves were previously known as Gharapuri, meaning the peaceful abode of Lord Shiva. They were renamed as Elephant cave by the Portuguese. The shrine is decked with big pillars and nine wonderfully sculptured panels. These sculptures show the varying moods of Lord Shiva.  Main attraction of the Elephant Festival of Mumbai consists of the elegantly illuminate Maheshmurti, the Shiva idol in the main cave of Elephant Island. Additional attractions comprise the folk dances of the local fishermen and exotic local cuisine. Distinguished dancers and musicians from all over the country take part in the Elephant festival and perform outside the caves.

Testimonials

Dear Abhay,
My husband and myself want to convey my sincere thanks to Mr Abhay for organizing such a wonderful trip on Royal Rajasthan on Wheels Train. He is very sincere and appreciated his ethics towards his work. He answered all my calls and replied to all my mails for all the doubts that India had.
It was my utmost pleasure to book through the Go Heritage India Journeys and would definitely recommend to anyone making a tour to India without a doubt.
